Devendra Fadnavis Targets CJP Over Prashant Bhushan’s ‘Regime Change’ Remark

Devendra Fadnavis has targeted the CJP and the India Alliance after Prashant Bhushan's reported regime change remark. Rajnath Singh also raised allegations over the protests, while Abhijit Deepke clarified the demand concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared a video of Bhushan’s statement and commented on the protests through a post on X. Fadnavis wrote, “It's done bro, everything is exposed!! Afterall, it was all about 'Regime Change'..”
He further alleged that what had been concealed had finally come out into the open and that the entire exercise was about gaining power. According to Fadnavis, the objective behind the protests was to create unrest under the cover of demonstrations. He accused the opposition of provoking students and farmers, spreading hatred in the name of caste and language, and damaging the reputation of the country's constitutional institutions. He alleged that creating anarchy under the guise of protests was the opposition's real objective.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also levelled similar allegations against the Congress. He said the way young people in the country were being provoked indicated that weakening democratic constitutional institutions and setting the country on fire was the opposition's sole agenda. Singh alleged that the country's youth were being used for political purposes and that the opposition wanted to bring about a change of government along the lines of Bangladesh.
Singh also referred to a statement by Neha Bora at a press conference, alleging that she had openly described Bangladesh as a model. He said the statement made the opposition's agenda clear.
Meanwhile, Abhijit Deepke had to issue a clarification during a press conference held around midnight. He said the demand was not for a change of government but for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Deepke alleged that Gyanesh Kumar was engaging in electoral irregularities and had changed Form 6 without the Supreme Court's permission. He further alleged that the Chief Election Commissioner had taken decisions without the consent of the other two commissioners.
“We never said that we wanted a change of government. We are only demanding that Gyanesh Kumar be removed,” Deepke told reporters.
The contrasting statements have intensified the political dispute surrounding the CJP's protests, with Fadnavis and Singh accusing the opposition of pursuing regime change, while Deepke has maintained that the movement's demand is limited to the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner.
